What Are Dopplers? Rehearsing an Interview Before You Have It

temenigruProduct

Before an interview, a negotiation or a board briefing, an investigator has a thick file and a thin sense of the person in it. Reading a profile tells you what someone has done. It does not prepare you for how a conversation with them is likely to go.

A Doppler is an interactive model of a subject, built from the profile and the source material in the case. You can question it, and see what the file actually supports.

What it is built from

Only the case. A Doppler is assembled from the profile and the material gathered and admitted during the investigation — not from assumptions, and not from a generic persona invented to fill the gaps.

That constraint is the feature. When the model cannot answer, the honest result is that the file does not cover it, which is precisely the gap an investigator needs to find before the meeting rather than during it.

What analysts use it for

Preparing an interview. Rehearse the questions you intend to ask and find out which ones the file cannot support.

Briefing a team. Give colleagues a faster way into a subject than a fifty-page dossier.

Testing a hypothesis. Probing the profile from different angles exposes where the evidence is thin.

What it is not

It is not a prediction of what a person will say, and it must not be presented as one. It is a reading aid over collected material: the model is a view of the file, and the file is what can be defended.

It is also not a persuasion tool. Engramite is built for authorised investigative and security work, and a subject model is used to prepare the investigator — not to impersonate anyone.

Boundaries that stay in place

A Doppler exists inside the case it belongs to, subject to the same legal basis, the same scope and the same retention rules as everything else in the case file. When the case is removed, so is the model. See provenance and retention.

Frequently asked questions

Does it invent details about the person? It works from case material. Where the file is silent, that silence is the answer.

Can its output go into a report? No. It is a preparation aid. Findings come from admitted evidence — see Engramite Writer.

Is this profiling in the regulatory sense? It is a working view of material already lawfully held in the case, governed by your own legal basis and retention policy.
